Reader Contribution: Quote from Marci Rich

This comment deserves the light of day. I don’t want it lost, buried in a comment on one of my posts. Thanks, Marci Rich , for the superior quote pasted below:

Fay, thanks so much for visiting my blog today, and for signing on to follow my adventures. I love meeting other writers—and there’s such a wonderful community of them here in the blogosphere. Very glad to e-meet you, and I wish you all the best!

p.s. Here’s a quote for your collection. I typed it out (on a typewriter!) a lifetime ago. The card is yellowed and pockmarked with push-pin holes, but it’s still up on my bulletin board:

“If you want to be a writer—don’t; if you want to WRITE, which is a different matter, nothing will stop you, not lack of time, nor the existence of husband, home, or children.”

—Fay Weldon

  1. This quote gets sublime by it’s simplicity – and the truth of it.
    I love it!
    I’m gonna treasure it.
    I’m gonna inhale it.
Oh, yeah and I’m gonna thank you for introducing me to it.
    Thank you Fay!
    Nuff said…
